The children were the first performers of the Parade, and when they exited the Stadium after their item, they were warmly greeted by the Guard-of-Honour Contingents.

Balloons for release later during the Parade's finale.


















These are Singapore's 25-pounder artillery guns. Used in the 1940s as part of the island's defences, these guns have been retired to being ceremonial guns.












When the President reviews the Guard-of-Honour contingents, these 25-pounders are fired as a mark of highest respect. This is known as the 21-gun salute, a military tradition which dates back to the 14th century.

Pictures were taken from the middle point of the Esplanade Bridge overlooking into Marina Bay. The fireworks were fired from Marina Bay Sands (site of the future casino).
